A Condition of Harmony

A condition of harmony may seem like a vague statement coming out of some spiritual book but I’m here to tell you, it is not. It is really a simple phrase that describes unity. Unity is a highly desirable place to be in, as it indicates a state of being in full agreement with not only your body, soul and mind, but other people too. I can’t think of a better place/space for dancers to be in; as unity implies you are focused and poised for success. Let us now explore the possibilities of creating a condition of harmony and becoming successful dancers.

Creating a peaceful environment filled with happiness is not something new or unheard of. Everyone wants peace and happiness. However, it seems not everyone is capable of realizing the concept and fully implementing it in their lives to their best advantage. It’s how you go about it that makes the difference! First, you must get out of your own way and allow the universe to speak to you. Harmonious vibrations exist to help guide you on the right path. Look out for the signs, they are everywhere! Did you ever notice that things almost always seem to work out for the best? You may not see it at the time, but in retrospect, I bet you will see that the universe did respond to your needs. Another thought that usually goes along the same lines is, do you trust your gut reaction? Often times your initial feeling about something is correct. That can be very helpful, if you are in touch with your feelings.

Not only is it highly desirable to have peace within, but it’s a great feeling to get along with your parents, siblings, school mates and of course, your dance teacher(s) and dance partners. This leaves you wide open to receive. It is all about getting along and balancing life with kindness, respect, honor, honesty, continuity, dignity and this is only the tip of the iceberg in creating unity.

Balance is of utmost importance to dancers. We have our eye on the “golden ring” and that takes precision and inner discipline to achieve it. Clear the path with vision and strength so you will be able to accomplish your goals. Recognize your challenges and most importantly, acknowledge everyone who is there to help and guide you. It seems people “on the same page” have better communication skills. Remember, you are in this together. No dancer ever gets there by themselves. United forces can move mountains, or in your case, win medals!

Coordination and consistency are also good tools to have. They aid in being responsible and someone that can be relied upon. It is necessary in the dance world to remain focused, using good judgment and creating a symmetry of style and character. When you are involved with other people and their hopes and dreams are similar to yours, you share a “oneness” that is empowering. Devotion to the cause is infectious and gratifying. Perfection is achieved by undivided total effect. And that is unity at its best.
