Are You Worth A Million

It is very exciting when we see a new innovative dance show take center stage. There are two reasons for that, one, when you are a dancer you love to see other people dance and two, it just might present an opportunity for an unknown dancer to become an instant star! So we love it

and we give a big thumbs up to the new show on television, World Of Dance.

It also begs the question, “Are you worth a million dollars?” Each of the dancers and group of dancers that have performed so far are extremely gifted in their dance moves and genre. I

can honestly say, the talent has been off the chart! Some of the best dancing I have ever seen. If you love dance, it’s almost an emotional experience!

World Of Dance is Executive Produced by renowned singer, actress and dancer, Jennifer Lopez. Yes, Jennifer Lopez started out dancing and look at her now. Along with Derek Hough and Ne-Yo, J-Lo, as she is frequently called, judge the contest. They also have Jenna Dewan, as the emcee for the show, who is also an incredible dancer herself.  And I hear that Misty Copeland is on hand to be a guest fourth judge, coming soon. Another great plus for the show is, it features dances from all dance worlds, i.e. Jazz, Ballroom, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Free Style, Street Dance, Cabaret, Flamenco and Salsa. We love it and can’t get enough.

Now that brings me to you, my young dancers. This is an unparalleled dance opportunity for dancers that strive for excellence and want to take their careers to the next level. Do you have what it takes? If you’ve got your dance craft down and you want to show it off, this may be the way to open doors to a nice, long,

career in dance. Who knows, someone may see you and offer you a role as a dancer in a Broadway play!

For those of you with aspirations of becoming a professional ballroom/dancesport dancer already, I’m sure you realized this could be an opportunity of a lifetime. Of course, you have to be super good, better than your competition now, know how to razzle and dazzle a crowd with moves and expertise only a few elite dancers would even attempt to do, as well as look and feel the dance in your bones. Can you do that?

That being said, the Fordney Foundation does give you the opportunity to perform at our many Pro-Am competitions, available all year long. Are you taking advantage of racking up points and trying to win prizes, scholarships and even sponsorships.  All of this is good experience and leads you in the right direction.  Become a dancer that the judges may recognize as a “great dancer.”

From what I’m seeing on World Of Dance, the caliber of dance is so high in technique, you literally have to be “one in a million” to pull it off. Would that be you?

Happy dancing,

Thought Of The Week:

“The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.”   –   Steve Jobs
