This was the 38th year of the Ohio Star Ball (OSB)
held at the Hyatt Regency in Columbus, Ohio. Fordney Foundation was certainly present, representing Junior and Youth Dance Series. The East versus West team match event was held at the conclusion of the junior and youth competitions on Saturday afternoon, November 21, 2015. We are happy to let you know about what took place thanks to our founder, Marilyn Fordney, who was there and gave us a recap of the Team Matches. Also, our co-founder, Alex Havasi, took these exciting pictures of these dancers you see here. Thanks so much to both of you, without your help, I could not bring this kind of “up close and personal” coverage of Ohio Star Ball 2015 to our readers!
There were mascots representing and cheering for each team, a panda bear for the East and a brown bear for the West. The team captains for the East were Sasha Nissengots and Emil Ruta. The team captains for the West were Debbie Avalos and Maria Hansen. With music blasting and audience cheers, Sam Sodano, our host and event organizer with Marilyn Fordney, and the team captains along with the mascots led the two teams around the perimeter of the ballroom dance floor. There were screams of excitement cheering their favorites on as round after round occurred
and these competitors danced their feet off to get first place. In the end by a very small margin, the West team won and the East relinquished their title from last year. The level of dancing has improved over last year so the team match is getting more competitive as each year passes. Results of the team match are as follows:

Marilyn Fordney of the Fordney Foundation was interviewed by Donna Edelstein at the conclusion of the East versus West team match. We have this video to show you. Hopefully, the words of Marilyn Fordney will inspire some of you to feel good about your decision to dance, as you continue in your careers. Also, Marilyn gave awards to the winning participants of the Fordney Foundation Junior and Youth Dance Series. At this event, we conclude our second year and begin the third year of this dance series.
We would like to give a big shout out to the marvelous team captains and thank them for all their efforts and hard work. For the East team, we have Sasha Nissengots and Emil Ruta. For the West team, we thank Debbie Avalos and Maria Hansen. Good job everybody!
This incredible dance competition that is in its 38th year could not go on without Mr. Ohio Star Ball himself, Sam Sodano. Time and time again, Sam pours everything into making each worldwide championship more spectacular than the year before. The Fordney Foundation is honored to be part of this extraordinary dance competition and we thank Sam for this rewarding experience.
Stay tuned for the continuation of the Ohio Star Ball’s exciting events. There was so much going on, we couldn’t get it all into one blog!
