The Heart of the Matter

Hey everybody, not only have we been active as dancers, we never gave in or gave up- finding new ways to achieve results in the face of adversity. We kept dancing through it all and ballroom dancing has exceeded all expectations. We are thriving and competitions from all over the United States are joining our Fordney Foundation community, making us bigger and better than ever!

We are happy to welcome Heart of America DanceSport Championships to our family of competitions that we represent. If you are in the Kansas City, Missouri area, this might be a great comp for you to perform at or be a spectator in the audience. This comp will be taking place August 12 - 14, 2021.

Here is a little bit of information about Eric and Michelle Hudson, organizers and new owners of the Heart of America DanceSport Championships competition. They are a married couple who have a long history of involvement in dancesport competitions. In 2008 Eric and Michelle were American Smooth Rising Star champions and in 2009 they were United States and World American Smooth finalists. Not only were they professional competitors, they co-own a dance school called Cinema Ballroom. Cinema Ballroom is located in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Cinema Ballroom has participated in competitions across the country for the past 15 years. Eric and Michelle dance Pro/Am with both beginners and champions. Michelle is Dance Director and Principal instructor at Cinema Ballroom. For several years Michelle was the National Sales Director for Dore Designs. Currently, she is an NDCA Champsionship level judge and has participated in competitions across the country.

In addition to being an organizer of Heart of America DanceSport Championships and co-owner of Cinema Ballroom dance school with his wife, Eric Hudson is one of the highest ranked dance instructors in the United States. He is renown for developing champion ballroom dances. He is proud to have instructed and partnered many students to United States/World Championship titles. Eric has also received Top-Teacher awards at numerous championships and circuits in North America.

Because of last year's mandated inability to have competitions in person, Eric and Michelle saw the need for pre-recorded virtual events. Another accomplishment of this dynamic duo was the creation of Starcast Virtual Dancesport Productions. The Hudsons created this kind of virtual dance experience to be able to accommodate dance events and promotions. If interested in these kinds of services, please visit their site for more information.

Eric and Michelle are most proud of their daughters Emerson and Austen. They consider them so lucky to have grown up in the beautiful, engaging, supportive environment of the dance community.

***We have received contributions from individuals who would like to have a dear relative or friend who passed on remembered that loved to dance or was a dance aficionado. We call these memorial contributions. Perhaps you would like to have someone memorialized in this manner. Make a donation and give us their name. We have on our website a yellow brick road to engrave their name to a brick as a memorial to that person. This contribution will assist future generations of dancers and help keep young people more positive and healthy.
